How to Optimize my new Wide Screen HD Computer Display?

Well, actually it's a new TV, but it's got tons of jacks on the side, including one for a PC input. My problem is that I see "waves" in the picture. For instance, part of what I'm typing right now is crystal clear, but gets slowly more blurry, then slowly sharper again. It happens all across the screen, about 2-3 inches in between each "wave. I have tried to research through yahoo, google, ask, and Computer Help Forum, but nobody has any information on dot clocking and how to find out what it is for my computer, and how to set up my monitor so I can see it as it should be. I have played around with the settings on the screen, there are sliders on dot clocking and phase, and I've tried to use them to fix the problem, but all that does is move where the distortion is occurring on the screen, not make it any less noticeable. Please help computer geniuses of the world, this screen is non-returnable and much to expensive for me not to get enjoyment out of it!!!!

Your monitor appears to be picking up electrical noise (the "wave). Try to move away any device or appliance that is close to the monitor. Also try connecting other devices/appliances on a different AC line and not on same powerstrip as that monitor.

I've seen some monitors with "Fine" or "Coarse" adjustment on its on-screen menu. Those adjustments help in eliminating horizontal or vertical "noises" on the display.
