Murano Glass Cross

If you've visited Venice Italy, did you find that it was "smelly" over there?--Like the water?

A couple of ppl told me it was either 'dirty' or 'stinks', but I'm going anyway coz just HAVE to SEE Venice!
The pics onlline from tourists all look really great of Venice.
So tell me, is it in fact smelly there?

i've been to venice repeatedly and will return there as often
as i can.
of course one should know what to expect, do some reading on
it beforehand.
i never go there in the summertime or during carneval, since
the place is so overcrowded with tourists then that one cannot
walk, one gets shoved, one is not a guest in restaurant, one
is an ant in an antheap, one is cheated, practically robbed,
driven into glass factories. whatever you want to see, there are
long waiting lines.
i go there in early december. it still is not too cold, sometimes
one can even sit outside, the air is clear, people are friendly,
one is a guest. prices are lower, no waiting lines. the other
time one can go there is just after carnevel - same thing.

you best forget about taking a gondola - just watch them from
the many bridges. much better is going by vaporetto (water bus ).
one can get cards for as man days as one wishes, can cross
over to murano, burano, torcello and so on. and of course, it is
no problem to walk.

if you do it like this, you will definitely fall in love with venice.
should parts of the city be flooded - take it with humor, it's
venice.
