Sapphire Small

I am looking for a original engagement ring from a small jewelers, any ideas?

I live in the London area and i would prefer to have a ring from somewhere small and original in London because it would mean more to me. I am looking for an sapphire and diamond ring. Any suggestions of where i could go would be fantastic, thank you!!

You have two main choices if you want originality: either an up-and-coming modern designer, or something Victorian or older. Which you choose will depend on what your own taste is, but one benefit of an antique ring is that it will definitely hold its value and probably increase. That could be the case with a modern designer piece, if you pick a designer or style that will stand the test of time, but you do stand a risk of the design looking dated a decade from now.
Personally, I love old rings -- and sapphire/diamond is such a classic combination that you'd get lots of choice. So here are a few places to start...

I have a couple of gorgeous Georgian rings I've bought from sellers in Gray's Antique Market -- a brilliant place to start looking, with scores of boutiquest selling antique jewellery plus vintage fashion and lots more sparkly stuff. =D It's a minute or two from Bond Street tube station, just off Oxford Street. Here's the market's website: http://www.graysantiques.com/

There's also Alfie's antiques market in Church Street, which is well worth trawling through for jewellery. Here's a taste of what their sellers have at the moment... http://www.alfiesantiques.com/antiques.php?search_a=y
Alfie's is on Church Street, just off Lisson Grove: Marylebone station's nearest, but Edgware Road's also about 7 mins walk away.

Another place I'd be dragging you off to is the King's Road in Chelsea. There are a number of lovely little jewellery stalls in the Chelsea Antiques Market that you could get lucky in (particularly good on art nouveau and art deco stuff). Here's its site: http://www.antiquarius.co.uk/index.cfm

And it's also worth looking in regular high-street jewellers -- many have vintage/ antique stuff as well as new.
