zoolander and hansel the betta fish?

i have two fish in a small tank divided. they have one snail and for thier water i was given aquamaster water ager chlorine neutraliser. i was told to use 4 drops in each divided section. they get one pinch of food. but i still have to clean the tank everyday to prevent it from smelling like seaworlds feeding areas and so its not so murky and dirty.ive had a huge fishtank before with 60 odd fish in it with different varieties and ive never had this much trouble whats am i doing wrong? i dont want to clean it everyday and risk stressing the fish or anything liek that

The larger the fish tank, the easier it is to keep stable and clean. Simple logic right there.

Sounds like the only thing you are doing wrong is not providing the fish with proper homes, bettas should have at least 2.5 gallons each, I wouldn't put one in under 5 gallons each though. Also, they need filters and heaters, filters will help to maintain water quality and heaters are because they are tropical fish. Even with a bigger tank and a filter, you should be doing water changes once a week, no matter what size tank.

You would be stressing the fish more by not cleaning the tank, because if you don't clean the tank daily then ammonia, nitrite and nitrate build up and either burn, stress or kill them.
