Looking for preppy room ideas?

I'm designing my room with chocolate brown and pink!! In my teens and i need some ideas for a nice room! Not PB Teen though! Sorry but its very expensive and there is no PB Teen in hawaii and that would be extra to ship! Any ideas would help!!! Thanks!!!

Use painter's tape to paint a plaid design on one wall, paint three of the walls light pink, then do one wall chocolate brown for dramatic effect and put the plaid in pink on the brown. It'll take a little while, but it's super fun when you get it all done.

This blog gives you instructions on a how-to, but you don't have to do nearly that complicated of a design.

Or, if you have a design you like, say there's a large flower on a pillow you bought, you can find a picture you like and print it out on a transparency sheet, then blow it up huge on your wall and paint that as a design.

Or, if you're artistically challenged and none of this paint help would be feasible, it's still a great effect to just do one wall a different color

As far as other ideas for what to do, I recommend throw pillows, lots of them, in all shades of brown and pink. You can get these at Bed Bath and Beyond, Pier 1 Imports, Dockside, or any other home design store for pretty cheap. Window decor is a must too, curtains can be bought and hung for $15 from Walmart, for a five piece, and if you have Venetian blinds, hang a piece (1 yard for a half size window, 2 yards for full length) of sheer fabric from the top attachment, and double sided tape the bottom of the fabric to the bottom of the blinds. This sounds weird, but these links are what it looks like (that's my window!)

That's what it looks like up, the fabric folds loosely in half to give you a nice filter for light (even though that picture was taken very early in the morning)

And that's what it looks like with the blinds down. I just tucked the corners of the fabric into the corners of the hard solid metal part in the bottom of the blinds with some double sided tape, it's stayed like that for a year and a half now in the Florida humidity.

Other than that, I'd search your local close-out store (like Big Lots, if they have that in Hawaii) for fun stuff to toss around the room like candle sticks, vases, and mismatched picture frames, and I have some bottles that I filled to various levels with glass stones, frappuccino bottles, mason jars, and wine bottles with some dried flowers here and there (with sentimental meaning, I still have my corsages from prom my junior year of high school). All kinds of fun stuff. It's also fun to display things from trips or local things on little shelves. Baskets would be fun too, they hang well from walls as decoration or you can store jewelry and other goodies in them.

Anyways, this has gone on forever, and I suppose that if that's not enough advice for you, you'll have to look elsewhere. Just go for whatever is completely and totally you.
