What is the safest way to heat a Sterilite tub for a ball python?

I will be moving my ball python to a sterilite tub and was wondering what the safest way to heat the tub is. I do not want to use a bulb- i need to know what the safest heat pad for a plastic tub is. I am already planning on getting a thermostat/rheostat to control whatever i pick.

thanks!

Heat mats work well and I use them a lot on animals I'm temporarily housing in tubs. I suggest attaching the pad to a piece of glass or a piece of tile so that you can easily move the heat pad if you no longer want to use the tub. Just put the little sticky pads on the side of the pad on the tile to give it some air space between the pad and the tub. That way the heat pad will not overheat as required in the instructions for use. If you use glass, you can just put the glass side next to the tub and not worry about it. The only thing required is that the mat has at least one side getting air circulation. Definitely use a thermostat to control the pad.
